What is Insomnia?
Insomnia is too little sleep or poor quality sleep. Insomnia is characterised by:
- Trouble falling asleep, often due to worrying about things or turning things over in your mind.
- Waking up a lot during the night due and having problems getting back to sleep
- Having unrefreshing sleep - caused by not reaching delta wave deep restorative sleep.
Women are more likely than men to be affected by insomnia and it can affect all age groups.
Most people need between 7 and 8 hours sleep a night to maintain good health.
